Press Release

Resorts World Manila in cooperation with Ultimate Shows Inc., opened its latest theater production Ian Fleming's Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for the first time in the country, at the award-winning Newport Performing Arts Theater (NPAT).

Thirty-four years after its movie version was released in 1968, the English musical was the first staged at the London Palladium in 2002 and became its longest running show ever with a three and a half year run. A UK tour also run from 2005 until 2008.

Prior to the Manila production, the musical was also staged on Broadway, New York; the Capitol Theater Sydney; the State Theater, Munich; and Singapore's Esplanade, among others.

Known to deliver world-class productions that champion Filipino talent, RWM showcases another all-Filipino cast led by stage actor Gian Magdangal who comes back to the country after three years of performing theater roles in Hong Kong Disney's the Gold Mickey and Minnie and the Wondrous Book, and as one of the main performers for Universal Studios in Osaka, Japan.

Gian takes on the role of eccentric inventor Caractacus Potts, while young yet seasoned actress Yannah Laurel plays his love interest Truly Scrumptious.

"I was very excited when I got the part. I'm really a fan of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and it was a big part of my childhood," shared Laurel. "It will appeal to Filipino audiences because it's a spectacle of a show, the music is beautiful, and for those who are unfamiliar, it's going to be an exciting treat for them because every single number is a producton number," added the two-time Aliw Awards Best Actress in a Musical nominee.

For the roles of the Potts children, 12-year old Noel Comia, a two-time Aliw Awardee for Best Child Performer alternates with 11-year old Albert Silos who has also been cast in several stage productions in the past including RWM's the King and the Cinderella.

Isabeli Araneta-Elizalde also returns to the NPAT stage as Jemina Potts, after her breakthrough performance in RWMs Annie which won her the Discovery of the Year award in last year's Aliw Awards. Alternating with Isabeli is Zoey Alvarade who herself has performed in numerous stage productions including It's a Giant World, Jewel of Antilles:Two Worlds, One Island; Seussical Jr; Wizzard of Oz, and Greased Lightning.

Also cast in the production are Mako Alonso as Boris; Reb Atadero as Goran; James Paollei as Grandpa Potts; Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo as the Baroness; Raymund Concepcion as Baron Bomburst; Michael Williams as the Toymaker; and Lorenz Martinez as the Childcatcher.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is directed by Jaime Del Mundo, with assistant direction by Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, artistic direction by Michael Williams, and the musical score provided by the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Rodel Colmenar.

What to Expect during "Shooting the Rapids in Cavinti Falls" on a Rainy Season

Laguna is also known for spectacular waterfalls. As matter of fact, just in the town of Cavinti alone, there are still numerous falls that has yet to be discovered.

13th October (Friday) - Tropical Typhoon "Odette" entered PAR leaving the Northern part of the Philippines in danger. Continuous rain in the Laguna province also led to flooding on Saturday (14th October) which makes the Shooting the Rapids not safe for tourist.

Following the "Safety First" motto, we decided to re-schedule our adventure the following day.

15th October (Sunday) - This is my third time meeting this mighty falls, but I have never seen how mighty and powerful she is until this day.

Watch the full video below and see how the boatmen struggle against the water current.

It was an awesome, adventurous, fun and thrilling adventure for us.

9 Things You Need to Know Before Going to Minalungao National Park

Minalungao National Park is a protected area of the Philippines located in the municipality of General Tinio, Nueva Ecija in Central Luzon.

The park is considered as one of the few remaining natural environments in this region north of Manila. It is promoted by the local government as an ecotourism destination offering breath-taking scenery of green pristine river and unique rock formations. A system of unexplored subterranean caverns have also been identified as potential attractions. Facilities for picnics, swimming, fishing, raft riding and cliff diving have likewise been put up to draw more visitors

Interested? Before asking your friends to join you this weekend, here are some things that you should need to know before going to Minalungao National Park.

1. The river gets crowded at lunch time. Be sure to be at the park on or before 7 or 8am on a weekend or holiday.

2. There are a lot of areas perfect for photoshoot. Prepare your OOTD and get that IG-gramable perfect look.

3. Rent a balsa for 600 pesos for 4 hours. Each balsa can only accommodate max of 8 pax. Make sure your lunch is ready before riding the balsa to save time. Grilling in the balsa is no longer allowed.

4. Real life "the boat is sinking game". If you will be renting 2 balsas for 16 pax, make sure to master your balancing skills so you can go back and forth from one balsa to another

5. You can buy buko salad while swimming. For only 15 pesos, you can taste the famous ice candy of mamang magbubuko. Sigaw lang ng "Pabiling ice candy!"

6. The park features a steel hanging bridge.

7. And zipline that you can enjoy.

8. Clean as you go. With the influx of local tourist from Luzon, I'm worried that the river might be exploited in the years to come.

9. Very limited shower rooms. There will be a very long line in the shower room between 2 to 4 pm on a weekend. You need to make "igib igib" the tubig using tabo and balde in the big water container first. Your muscles will be put to a test.
